ALMOST 60 brave students from Cornwall College have taken part in a charity abseil.
Public Services students from Cornwall College’s campuses in Saltash, St Austell, Camborne and Duchy College at Stoke Climsland took part in an abseil down the main building at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, raising more than £2,000 for the national charity Parkinson’s UK.
Sophie Bellows, 17, from Liskeard, taking the Public Services Level 2 Diploma at Saltash, said: “It was really scary going over the top but the feeling when I got to the bottom was amazing.
“We all had a really good day and were so pleased to have been able to raise so much,” she added.
Dave Linnell, principal of Cornwall College, said: “It’s really important to us as a college to be able to get together at events like this and maximise the amount we can raise for charity, in this case Parkinson’s UK which is such a worthwhile cause.”
