An adult
evening Plumbing class at Cornwall College, Saltash have just completed a
project to build a working bicycle completely out of recycled scrap metals from
their workshop.
The
bicycle was designed during one three-hour session and was built during the
following two evenings. It has working steering and wheels and will be on
display at the College as an excellent example of what can be achieved with recycled
materials and little or no soldering experience.
Richard
Powell, Head of Technology at the Saltash School for Cornwall College said,
“Our plumbing students had a great time during this project and put some of the
skills they have learnt during their time with us into practice”.
Dave
Linnell OBE, Principal of Cornwall College, said: “This has been a brilliant
project for our plumbing students to get involved in and shows how much they
have learnt. We pride ourselves on the facilities available for our students
and at Saltash there is a lot of opportunity for those looking to get involved
in plumbing and construction.”
