Duties and Responsibilities
· Classroom instruction in any and all phases of our language programs, and supplementary programs such as TOEFL preparation or phonics/literacy
o Our language programmes utilise the world-renowned our school Method, in which all speaking and learning is conducted in the target language. A communicative approach is used, based on listening and speaking, supplementing study with relevant reading and writing exercises. Class sizes are limited to 15 students or less for a maximum of student/teacher interaction.
o Full training in our school Method is given to all new teachers. Thereafter, teachers are required to attend regular teaching workshops and may be assigned additional training as required.
o Our classes are organised via units of 45 minutes, with students normally taking 2 units a day. The English programme is organised into 10 levels, which take the learner from absolute beginner to native-like fluency. Each level takes between one and two months to complete, depending on the number of students in the class, as follows:
§ P1: 1 student: 40 units/level
§ P2: 2-3 students: 50 units/level
§ G1: 4-6 students: 60 units/level
§ G2: 7-9 students: 70 units/level
§ G3: 10-13 students: 80 units/level
§ For exceptional groups of 14-15 students: 90 units/level
· Lesson preparation
· Ensuring a high level of student satisfaction
· Counselling students and providing feedback to Language Instructional Supervisor
· Encouraging students to re-enrol for additional classes
· Placement testing
· Assisting in orientation of new teachers
· Additional administrative duties possible, at the discretion of the Director
· Adhering to a professional dress code
· Punctuality
· Professionalism
· Showing genuine concern and care towards the students and being sensitive to their needs
· Meeting of deadlines (ending groups on time, submitting of reports, etc.)
· Cultural sensitivity
Working Conditions
· Working hours: Contract is for 8 hours per day: 7.5 hours of classroom instruction and 0.5 hours class preparatory and administrative work
· Instructors may be required to conduct up to 7.5 hours per week of additional classes as paid overtime
· Centre opening hours: 8 am – 10 pm Saturday to Wednesday, half day on Thursday. Classes may sometimes fall on a Thursday and sometimes in a split shift
· Instructors may not give private tuition outside the proper course of their employment with us
Qualifications and Experience
· Applicants must be native-born English speakers
· One of the following combinations of qualifications and experience, or equivalent, required. Qualifications may be in any subject unless otherwise stated.
o BA + two years' teaching experience in an independent school
o BA + PGCE (or BEd) + one year's teaching experience in an independent school
o BA + PGCE (or BEd) + successful completion of NQT year
o BA + CELTA or equivalent + three years' TESOL experience
o MA + CELTA or equivalent + two years' TESOL experience
o MA in Applied Linguistics (or DELTA) + one year's TESOL experience
o MA in other education- or language-related subject + CELTA or equivalent + one year's TESOL experience
· Other relevant qualifications and/or experience of a similar standard may be considered
Salary and Benefits
· Competitive salary dependent on qualifications and experience
· Paid teaching overtime
· Transport allowance of SR 6,000 per annum

o End-of-Service Award of a half-month salary for each of the first five years and a one-month salary for each year thereafter, if the employment is terminated by the employer; or of one-third of this for service of 2-5 years, two-thirds for service of 5-10 years, or the full amount for service of 10 or more years, if the employment ends due to the instructor’s resignation
