Local Profile of Fred Rogers; the Owner of Sanford Suzuki

Fred Rogers is a well known local businessman who has lived in Saltash his whole life. The Rogers have had successful businesses in Saltash for 85 years, starting with Fred’s father who had a dairy shop in Saltash from 1926.

Fred has established and run numerous auto businesses in Saltash for the past 45 years including; Sanford Suzuki Car Dealership and Motorland used car sales, from Callington Road just off Carkeel roundabout, Saltash.

Fred has been running businesses from this site in Saltash since 1988 and currently employs 21 people. This is the preffered site for the new Tesco's and Fred says that he is happy for the oppertunity to move to another planned site in Saltash so he can develop and expand his businesses.

Fred is also a pilot and passionate about his own planes; an original vintage L4 Piper Cub Warbird that was used for reconnaissance intelligence work in WWII and a genuine anniversary model Piper Super Cub; of which only 52 of this model were ever made and Fred has the one of only two that are currently in England.

Fred is so enthusiastic about the Piper Cub flying experience that he has recently set up a new company, called Beaver Aviation, to import and build a kit version of the popular Legend Cub plane. Beaver Aviation has the sole distribution rights to produce and sell cub kit planes all over Europe.

Fred’s goal is to make this beautiful piece of aviation history an affordable flying machine for pilots as enthusiastic about the Piper Cub as he is, and Beaver Aviation is going to make Saltash an area of excellence in aviation industry, which will be a real boom for the local economy.
