Cornish Maize Maze and Fun Farm at Smeaton Farm in Pillaton Saltash re-opened last
Saturday 17th July with a real clownin’ about spectacle!
The
maze grown from maize corn every year can not open until the summer months when
the maize has grown sufficiently high enough to make it difficult for you to
find your way through the maize. The maze is a completely different shape every
year, this year in 2010 the shape and theme is clowns.
Cut
from the maize is a 200m or 650ft clown juggling 5 balls. Carved and planned
using satellite navigation the maze covers a space of 8 acres giving you over 3
miles of maze to walk through and get lost in! Half-way there is a bridge
giving you the opportunity to view your progress and a chance to escape to
catch your breath if you need to.
The
Cornish Maize Maze is worth a visit in the summer holidays. Follow the path and
collect all 10 clown stamps, we managed 7, I dare you to be able to find them
all! There are also plenty of other things going on, including animals to see
& feed, trampolines, bouncy castles and a giant sand pit.
This
is a great day out for all ages but I advise you to bring your own picnic for
the picnic tables outside, some light refreshments are provided, and go on the
train around the farm at one o’clock.
Adults £5.50 and children
(3-16 years old) £4.00 a family ticket is £16 (2 adults & 2 children)

Oh yes I remember that bit with the maze at night in the Shining! Very scary book & movie. Looks like a good place to visit for the summer to entertain the kids but not sure I can enter the maze now!!!

ReportI've never been to the Maize Maze before, but my partner went about ten years ago and has assured me that I should give it a try! On the flip side, mazes are incredibly frustrating....and always remind me a bit of the The Shining.
