The Great Western Jazz Company draws upon the classic American Songbook, as well as popular Dixieland and small band swing numbers, for its repertoire. Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, and Benny Goodman 'rub shoulders 'with Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and George Gershwin.
The Great Western Jazz company features six of south wests most experienced jazz musicians, playing music they love - the popular music from the jazz and swing area. Although only formed in 2006, most of the band have known each other for many years, playing in various groups throughout the south west and in some cases, having jazz pedigrees going back to the heady days of the great British jazz revival!
