The Saltash Town

Council is now ready for work to begin on the long awaited extension to the St

Stephens Cemetery. The new Church town cemetery will have enough space for

another twenty five years, as well as space for another twenty seven allotments.

The council has

contracted a local firm W.H Bond and work will commence around the 9th

August and take about 17 weeks. The Saltash Mayor Adam Killeya said, “The cemetery

extension is very important to the town, many residents have lived in Saltash

for a long time and want it to be their final resting place.”

I am not sure of the

disruption to the area in this time but it has always seemed to me that burials

are an awful waste of space in this modern world. Being cremated is surely a

better way forward and less morbid! Has the town council thought that Saltash may

not want or need an extension to the cemetery ground?
