Victorian Christmas Fair & Lantern Parade
By JanePublisher | Tuesday, November 15, 2011, 10:40
Saltash will be lit up this Christmas with a lantern parade, for the first time in its Christmas Fair. The lanterns will be made out of paper and willow in workshops in the community the week before the Christmas event.

Lantern Parade
The Christmas event will be on Saturday 3rd December 2011 and will have a Victorian theme. Shop windows and shopkeepers along Fore Street will be dressed in Victorian attire to compliment the theme on the day.
There will be a gift and craft fair in Victoria Gardens throughout the day. In the afternoon Fore Street will have entertainment, music and Victorian rides. Of course there will also be a Victorian fancy dress competition for children and adults, which will be at 4.00pm on a stage on the bottom of Fore Street.
The lantern parade of hopefully 200+ lanterns will light up the night sky from the Guildhall at quarter to five, up Fore Street to Victoria Gardens where the lantern parade will be joined by the Saltash Town band. The whole parade will then descend down Fore Street together at 5.00pm.
Followed by the switch on of the lights at 5.20pm by the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, Colonel Edward Bolitho, OBE, and an open air community carol service at 5.30pm.
