Saltash Leisure Centre is offering residents of South East Cornwall the chance to take their first steps to exploring the underwater world. Scuba dive instructors from Plymouth Diving Centre are to start using the swimming pool for its confined water training sessions teaching at all levels, from the first steps in learning to dive to the most advanced technical courses.

Those who have never dived before and want to experience breathing underwater can join a Discover Scuba Diving session on a Saturday evening.
The two hour session teaches the very basics of scuba diving, giving the chance to get kitted up in professional equipment and try diving in a totally safe environment with the support of a qualified instructor.
The introductory dives are available for adults and children over the age of eight, although children can only qualify as an open water diver once they reach the age of ten.
Children who want to continue diving in the pool until they are old enough for open water can join the PADI Seal Team, taking part in aquamissions and activities in the pool to have fun and learn about the aquatic environment.
The next session takes place on Saturday 16th February and every fortnight thereafter at a cost of £30 per person or £25 each for two people signing up together.
