The tradition of the Saltash Rugby Club pram race rolls on in 2012 tomorrow and people in Saltash have become used to this spectacular annual New Year race in aid of a local person.

Teams of a maximum of 6 people will meet tomorrow on 1st January at the Saltash Rugby club on Moorlands Lane in Saltash at 11.00am. Teams of participants in the fun charity race and serious runners from the Tamar Trotters will leave the rugby club at 12.00noon.

Following a safety car the participants first stop is the New Rodney where they have a 15 minute break and a chance to refresh with a half-pint before they continue to all of the pubs in Saltash (except the Boatman).

At the clubs post race party there will be sumo suits donated by Groundworks, face-painting and tattoos from the Little Party Shop and waxing (for those brave enough) by Emma Mills.

Charmain Jones, the owner of The Little Party Shop said, "The pram race always benefits a Saltash person that needs help, this year it is being run for Chloe Sheil."

Chloe Sheil is a 3 year old girl from Saltash who has dyskenetic cerebral palsy. Chloe recently had 2 weeks intensive therapy at Bobath Physiotherapy Clinic in London, which had a dramatic improvement in her mobility and speech. Chloe needs to return to the clinic once a year and on their recommendation needs a specialist walking frame which will help her walk.

So if you see the pram racers tomorrow on their crazy route don't forget to donate as much as you can to this worthy local cause.
