Business students studying the Foundation Degree at Cornwall College Saltash are hosting a charity ball on Saturday 23 February in aid of Archie's Story.
Archie Barton was less than 18 months old when he developed Meningitis B. That lead to severe septicaemia and caused him to have both legs amputated.
As Archie grows up he will need a continual supply of new prosthetic legs. Those available on the NHS have limited function and are unlikely to give him good mobility but the cost of alternatives could reach £12,000.
Lecturer Kerry Jackson said: "Sponsorship and charitable events such as Archie's Ball are vital to his continued development so it's fantastic that students Adam, Agnieszka, Hannah, Gemma and Lauren have decided to organise this event in aid of Archie as part of their Foundation Degree in Business."
The event, which has a formal dress code, is being held at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel in Plymouth and includes a three course sit down meal, live music, a DJ and raffle with great prizes donated by local businesses.
Tickets cost £40 per person with a reduced rate of £35 per person for tables of ten. The Duke of Cornwall Hotel is also offering special room rates for anyone attending the ball.
Organiser Hannah Humphreys said: "This gesture from the hotel allows guests the opportunity to enjoy their evening whilst attending Archie's Ball without having to worry about travelling home. This is especially kind of The Duke of Cornwall, and the team and I would like to thank them for their support. We are really looking forward to the event and helping to support Archie's Story."
Debbie Wilshire, Head of College at Cornwall College Saltash, added: "This is a fantastic charity and the group have put in a tremendous amount of work to make this ball a success. We hope to have a great turn out on the night and to raise as much as possible for Archie."
