The Saltash Town Band, after a difficult few years and shortage of players have successfully managed to re-build over the past few months following a determined recruitment drive.

The Band are extrememly proud that we are now able to perform once again in events in the Town and also represent the town further afield, (we recently performed two concerts in Padstow to much applause).  The Band also organised a very successful Charity Concert in aid of Cornwall Air Ambulance at the beginning of April and raised £320.00 for the charity, special thanks must also go to Western Approach Close Harmong Singers who also performed on the night.  We are currently looking forward to our joint concert with the extremely talented Youngstagers which is taking place on Friday 10th June at 7.30pm at Saltash.net Community School.

The Band has also recently re-established their Training Band where we offer people the opportunity to learn a brass instrument for just 50p  a week which includes provision of an instrument and we hold this every Friday in the music block at Saltash.net Community School, 6pm-7.15pm.  As a result we now have a promising Junior Band which currently consists of 15 very keen youngsters with ages ranging from 6yrs-14yrs.  The Junior Band is open to anyone under the age of 19.

The Senior Band still have a few vacancies to fill and currently seek a couple of cornet players, a BBb Bass player (big tuba!) and desperately need a percussionist/drummer who can play kit and will have full use of all the other percussion instruments that we currently have in storage (timps, tubular bells, glock, the list goes on but anyway, it's a Percussionists playground!).  If they can read percussion music that would be a bonus but not essential as it can be learnt.  Band rehearsals are held every Friday at Saltash.net Community School, 7.45pm-9.45pm.

If we can fill these vacancies in the next few months, the Band very much want to start Contesting again and represent the town locally, regionally and nationally.

If you are interested in any of these vacancies, wish to book the Band for an event or simply would like to find out more about the Saltash Town Band, please visit our website at www.saltashtownband.co.uk or contact Nicola Pascoe - Band Secretary on 01752 842296.
