The Saltash Waterside Festival's second year, on the 9th and 10th July 2011, will be a Pirates of the Tamar theme and is looking set to be packed with fun things to see and do in and out of the water to celebrate life by the river Tamar.

Saltash Regatta 2010
The festival begins on Saturday at 10.30am by a Regatta Civic Parade from Victoria Gardens down Fore Street to the Waterside. Every part of the Waterside will be bursting with entertainment and music.
There is some great music lined up to play on the Waterside Green. On Saturday the bands playing are Crooked Tempo, Jumping Out Duo and Quijada. On Sunday The Roosters will be playing and there will be a Pirate Theatre in the afternoon.
The Old Ferry Road will be packed with a market with plenty of food stalls and children's rides. On Saturday the Wreckers will be playing and on Sunday the Hornets will be playing here.
There will be craft stalls and a bouncy castle on Jubilee Green. On Sunday there will be a miniature train ride and a Punch & Judy show.
There will also be some fabulous children's entertainers floating around the waterfront during the two days. Keep a look out for ELFIC the Jester, ZAG Balloon Modelling and Magic Show, Unicycle Sam and Owdayado Pirate Theatre.
There is also a lot to see on the water with a huge line up for the Saltash Regatta including a 150 Pilot Gig Race, mixed and junior races, RNLI demonstrations, Saltash Sailing Club dingy race, Tamar Canoe Association kayak demonstration, a fabulous fancy dress race and the popular three towns race with Saltash competing with Torpoint and Looe.
The Waterside Festival is free to come along and enjoy the fun but Joe Ellison says, "Please support the festival this year by the purchase of a Grand Draw ticket 5 tickets for only £1.00 and fantastic prizes to be won."

I only caught a bit yesterday, but very much enjoyed watching the swim across the river and the rowing. The beach looked great. How did the rest of it go? Who is the guy on the speakers, proper job.

ReportI think that would be a shame. I have always enjoyed the Mayfair and I think that the guys that help organise it for the town deserve our unreserved thanks and maybe a little more help from other people in the community!!

ReportDear Essamonkey
Whilst I object to being referred to as a 'May Fair muppet' you are a fair reflection of the town's attitude to May Fair this year and, because of this, I'm just one of a few of the May Fair Committee members who may well 'stand aside' as you put it, perhaps leaving the town without a May Fair in 2012. So put your money where your mouth is and be someone who gets involved with May Fair, rather than see it is some sort of competition as to who holds the best event.

ReportThe first one was a bit dissapointing but I am sure they will just get better & better and this looks like they have put a lot of thought and energy into it - really looking forward to it.
