Saltash Foodbank collection this Friday 24th February at Saltash Co-op
By SaltashFoodbank | Wednesday, February 22, 2012, 12:31
Customers shopping at the Saltash Co-op this Friday are
being asked to buy an extra tin of food and donate it to the Saltash Foodbank.
The Saltash Foodbank is a new charity, formed to help
local people who are temporarily short of food. Established by a group of local volunteers, the foodbank is
working with various professional agencies such as the Saltash Citizens Advice
Bureau. People in need are
identified by these agencies and referred to the foodbank who will provide an
emergency supply of tinned or boxed food that will last for a period of three
days.
The Saltash Foodbank will start operating from the
middle of March 2012, and needs donations of food and funds to set up a food
warehouse and start providing food parcels.
To make a donation to the Foodbank, please visit the
Saltash Co-op between 09.30 and 16.00 on Friday 24th February 2012
or contact the Saltash Foodbank directly on 07580-665785.

ReportI have to say I was absolutely amazed at the generosity of the people who donated to the foodbank on Friday, I popped in to get some lunch and was handed a list and asked if I would be generous enogh to donate an item from the list.
Whilst in the queue with my items to donate I noticed people leaving carrier bags full of shopping and baskets.
Well done Saltash!!
