Rotary Youth Speaks Annual Competition at Saltash.net School

The Annual Youth Speaks competition took place at Saltash.net Community School on Wednesday 25th January. The event was organised by the Saltash Rotary Club, with assistance from Mrs. Jude Hollyman, PA to the Headteacher at the school.

Rotary Club Youth Speaks Competition in Saltash
The annual event was attended by 5 Junior Teams from Burraton Community Primary School and Sir Robert Geffery's Primary School, as well as two Intermediate Teams from Saltash.net School.
Hosted by the current President of the Saltash Rotary Club, Mr. John Smith, the competition showcased an excellent range of public speaking skills with the young people choosing an eclectic range of topics to debate, including a consideration of Olympic athletes as role models and the controversial issue of Cornish independence.
The winning teams, who will progress to the area stage of the competition, were Team 1 from Sir Robert Geffery's comprising Charlie Potts (Chair), Jamie Williams (Speaker) and Alanna Harrison (Vote of Thanks) and Team 2 from Saltash.net Community School, JJ Harding (Chair), Luke Carter (Speaker) and Gabriel Grocombe (Vote of Thanks).
