Concerns over national strikes on Wednesday 30th November 2011 how will the strikes affect you?
The government is demanding extra contributions from pensions but this will not be paid back into pensions but planned to help pay of the national deficit.
Retirement age has already been expected and people are notably upset throughout the country. The TUC, which has organised the action, says that the Government wants to make people pay more and work longer for a lot less, and it has failed to enter into meaningful negotiations.
ThisisPlymouth notes that at midnight a 'Save the NHS' protest at Derriford Hospital will start the TUC demonstrations in the region.
The Saltash Town Council have no plans for the strikes on Wednesday but if you want to get involved protesters will assemble outside the Guildhall in Armada Way, Plymouth at 11am for a protest march through the city ending at the Holiday Inn.
Many schools will be affected by the national strikes. Saltash.net School is doing all that it can to prevent the school closing on Wednesday and will keep parents informed of any action taken. Cornwall College Saltash campus will be taking no action on the day and will be open as usual.
Bishops Cornish CofE Primary School and St Stephens Primary School both said that unfortunately they will close on Wednesday if the strikes go ahead.
Christine Blower, general secretary of the National Union of Teachers, in an interview with The Guardian on Sunday said: "Unions would consider regional strikes and what steps to take next if negotiations remained in deadlock after Wednesday's walkout by 2.6 million workers".
