Deadline extended for Cornwall Sustainability Awards

The deadline for this year's Cornwall Sustainability Awards has been extended to Sunday, October 7.
The move comes following a request from a large number of businesses, given the popularity of the awards.
Companies will be able to compete in seven categories including Best Managed Company, Low Carbon Business, Resource Management, Products and Services, Best Individual and Sustainable Construction.
This also sees the addition of the new Green Shoots New Business category.
Veryan Jones, Cornwall Council's sustainable development officer and event organiser, said: "As usual we've had a lot of applications come in already.
"But as the deadline approaches we find that an increasing number of businesses want to get involved, so we decided to extend the closing date to allow more businesses to shout about their green achievements.
"As it's our tenth anniversary this year we want to make it the biggest event yet."
Since 2002 the Cornwall Sustainability Awards has given trophies to and acknowledged hundreds of Cornish businesses both large and small and as diverse as breweries, printers, clothing manufacturers, a scrap metal dealer and even an abattoir.
Last year's Overall winner was Hendra Holiday Park.
Businesses who would like to enter this year's awards should visit www.cornwallsustainabilityawards.org where application guidelines can be downloaded.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony taking place in December.
