Cornwall College Saltash has introduced a range of courses for potential students to get started at any point in the year, rather than having to wait until the usual start dates of January or September.

Those considering returning to education now have the chance to make a fresh start at any point during term-time with a new range of full-time courses covering many of the subjects on offer at the campus.

The courses, most of which are practical and vocationally based, will run on a variety of dates during the year and are aimed at students 16+ who may be looking to change direction, change their current course or for those who may be looking for a new challenge.

Subject areas on offer within the new scheme include Art and Design, Business and IT, Childcare and Health and Social Care, Construction, Hair and Beauty, Hospitality and Catering, Pre-Apprenticeships and, among others, Travel and Tourism.

Level 1 and 2 courses will lead onto a relevant level 3 qualification. There is also a Pre-Apprenticeship route for learners who want to take up an Apprenticeship but require a level 1 qualification first to get the foundation they need to progress on the full work-based route.

Head of Faculty at the campus, Peter Castell said: "We realise that for a number of reasons people are looking to start a course at many points of the year. It may be that their current course isn't right for them and they are looking to change or that they have decided to start something new and don't want to wait until traditional start dates in September or January. We believe that these in-year starts will help to create a new option for many potential learners who want to study with us at the College."

Based in Church Road, Saltash, the campus is less than five miles from Plymouth city centre and has extensive transport links serving south east Cornwall, Plymouth, Ivybridge, Tavistock and the surrounding areas. In many cases transport to and from college is free for most students.

Places are available now. To apply, or for more information about any of the new courses, call the College on 01752 850200, visit www.cornwall.ac.uk or call into main reception.
